PARAMOUNT ELKS

Paramount Elks Lodge #1804 was founded in 1950. It is a part of the larger national organization known as the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.). The Elks were founded in 1868 and has grown to include nearly 1.2 million men and women in almost 2,200 communities. The Elks Lodge here in Paramount currently has 345 members. Their meetings are held every Monday evening at 7:30 pm. While regular meetings are strictly for members only, the lodge is open to visitors other nights and there are several times during the year when the meetings are open for special functions such as Flag Day, Memorial Day, and Civic Night.  On Civic Night all City officials will be present along with the Mayor of Paramount, the City Council, Commissioners, Sheriffs dept, and Fire Dept.

Becoming an Elk is as easy as asking a member to sponsor you. Why become an Elk do you ask? There are many good reasons. The Elks are committed to the ideals of Charity and Patriotism as well as helping the Youth of the community and country. Over the Elks 132 years of existence they have disbursed more than $2.69 billion in cash, goods, and services to the nations youth, it’s veterans, the disadvantaged and handicapped, and in support of patriotic and civic programs. The Elks are one of the largest private providers of college scholarships in the nation averaging around $8 million each year. The Lodge here in Paramount hands out “Student of the Month” awards to students here in the Paramount school district as well as a “Student of the year” award at the end of the school year. The Elks also sponsor many youth programs such as helping crippled children by providing physical therapy, speech therapy, vision and hearing screening all free of charge. In addition to this they have programs for scouting, sports such as the hoop shoot and soccer contests, and drug awareness. The Lodge is located at 8108 Alondra Blvd.
